Low energy compact fluorescent lamps are the most efficient replacements for conventional light bulbs. They have useful properties such as long life and a huge choice of wattages and shapes. As a rule of thumb most manufacturers quote the equivalent as being approximately 5 x the wattage, i.e. a 20W compact is quoted as being the replacement of a 100W conventional lamp, however to avoid disappointment a more realistic multiple is 4.
