WEEE Directive The 1st of July brought about the introduction of the WEEE directive in Great Britain. Contrary to what you may have been told the WEEE charge is not a fixed amount. There are 37 WEEE compliance schemes in the UK each each making a different charge, some are weight based and some are per-piece. The cost of recycling varies depending upon the chosen compliance scheme the producer (Manufacturer/Importer) has joined, for the sake of simplicity we have decided to make all our prices inclusive of any WEEE fee where applicable. Therefore you will not pay any hidden additional charges.

What is WEEE The new regulations force producers to pay for the cost of recycling used lamps at the end of life, so in future you should no longer be charged for recycling lamps. However the regulations do not include the cost of transporting the lamps to a collection point. If you are a business user as against a retail customer the regulations diverge at this point.

Business Users In practice if you use have more than 500 lamps to be recycled the Recolight intend to collect the used lamps free of charge, this offer may change but I have linked to the Recolight site on the tab on the left and you may contact them directly. If you have fewer than 500 lamps then you will have to arrange to take your spent to a designated recycling point at your own expense.

Retail Customers CP Lighting have signed up to Valpak to discharge our take-back obligations. This means we have contributed towards the cost of setting up recycling facilities at local authority refuse centres. We are therefore are unable to take back spent lamps at our warehouse. Whilst there are no obligations on domestic customer to recycle their lamps, we encourage it and if you view the Recycle-More website, you will find information about where you can return used lamps for recycling.
