LED GLS

Standard light bulbs are called GLS lamps. The Led versions now completely surpass traditional lamps in every way. They are longer lived, use up to 95% less energy are available in dimming versions, dim-to-warm versions and super high colour rendering versions (CRI>90%).

There is a huge choice in both colour temperatures (Colour of the light) but also the finishes such as clear, frosted, gold etc etc.

Information about LED replacements for traditional bulbs

No one really liked low energy lamps they were large and the colour was poor, LEDs are very different.

1. "Low Energy lamps take a while to light up" LEDs operate at full brightness instantly.

2. "Low energy lamps looked bright when new but then dropped". Leds have a very consistant light output falling very slowley over time.

3. "Low energy lamps never lasted as long as they should". Low energy lamps do not like to be switched on an off frequently otherwise it kills the lamps, LEDs do not suffer these problems and so will givce many years of use.

4. "Low energy lamps produce a horrid light". Low energy lamps had a CRI of 80 and because they were usually not as bright as the lanmps that they replaced the result was dissapointing. LED lamps are  a revelation and it is now possible to buy LED lamps wioth CRI of over 90%. We have a filter on our website to allow you to filter out the low colour rendering lamps and I woudl urge you to use it. The high colour rendering lamps are sligghtly more expensive but the improvement in the quality of light makes it worth it.

1. Traditional lamps use lots of energy; LED's use about 1/10 of the energy with typical savings of 90%

2. Traditional lamps lasted 1,000 hours on average; LED's last upwards of 15,000 hours some over 40,000. We recommend the shorter life lamps because after 15,000 the technology will have improved an a lower wattage lamps will be available, who wants to wait 40,000 hours to save money?

3. Traditional lamps just produced light of between 2500K and 3000K for halogen lamps. LED's offer lots of different colours from and extremely warm 2100K right up to Daylight 6500K. So LED lamps are much more versatile.
