    Information about popular Infra-Red reflector bulbs

    Blown Bulb (R125) lamps are supplied in a choice of finishes red, satin(Frosted) and clear. The infra-red output of these lamps are all about the same so what is the difference? The difference is these are all designed to reduce glare. The clear lamps obviously have no glare control and give a crispo white light. The satin/frosted lamps diffuse the light so glare is reduced considerably. Lastly the red fronted lamps, these try to reduce the visible light spectrum as much as possible and these are perfect where colour of the light is not important.

    These lamps are used in many different applications, the traditional applications were for "space heating" that is using infra-red radiation to provide warmth in places where the volume of air is too great to heat or a place where you want instant heat and the area is used infrequently. These lamps are also used in some animal care applications, for keeping food warm is a very popular use. The lamps are very versatile and do not require any control gear they simply operate on mains voltage.
